Ford Model T (1909) - over 15 million Model Ts were manufactured between 1908-1927, making it one of the most successful vehicles of all time. Ford originally offered the Model T in three colors, including red like this 1909 Model touring car from the collections of Henry Ford Museum. However with the advent of the moving assembly line in 1913, it was soon discovered that black was the only color that would dry fast enough for the mass production process. As a result, all Model T were black for a number of years until paint technology improved.
