Some more postcards from Ireland

Dublin, capital of Ireland, was founded by Viking pirates over a thousand years ago. The lovely city stands at the foot of the Wicklow Mountains, facing Dublin bay and is famousfor its magnificent Georgian architecture and spacious streets. Through it flows the swathe of the river Liffey, which rises in the heart of the Wicklow hills. O'Connell Street, the main thoroughfare, croses the river by O'Connell Bridge.

Postcard from my cousin, Dingle, Co Kerry.

Powerscourt is one of Europe's great treasures and Ireland's most famous House & Gardens gracing the Wicklow mountains, 20 km from Dublin city centre. In 1908 a Japanese garden was laid out on reclaimed bogland to the south of the Triton pond. A series of concentric paths leads the visitor around the garden which features a pagoda, stone lanterns and several bridges over a stream. Palnting in this area includes Japanese maples, azaleas and Chinese Fortune Palms (Trachycarpus fortunei).

Greetings from Ireland

Glendalough (Gleann Da Loch - "Valley of the Two Lakes") is a fascinating monastic settlement in a spectacular natural setting just an hour south of Dublin. Founded by St. Kevin, a hermit monk who died about 618 AD. The extensive ruins include several early churches, a graceful round tower, and various sites associated with the life of St.Kevin. www.glendalough.ie
